Be a Better Blogger: 5 Must-Read Blogs About Blogging

Want to guess how many unread blog posts are sitting in my reader right now? It’s 686. Just since last week.

I subscribe to a lot of blogs—food blogs, wedding blogs, lifestyle blogs, home decor blogs… it’s… just… it’s a lot of blogs—and I haven’t quite found the time lately to reach Feed Reader Zero. But no matter how many wedding pretties and drool-worthy food snaps are waiting for me, do you know what blog genre I make sure I never miss? It’s the blog blogs.

Each of these stellar bloggers is totally meta, writing primarily about, well… blogging. If you’ve ever wondered how to start a blog, run a blog, find readers for your blog or monetize your blog, these sites have you covered with great advice and resources. I always turn to these blogs for consistent, expert advice on keeping up an online presence.

Blog.

It doesn’t even look like a word anymore, does it? Thanks, semantic satiation.

Anyway, here they are, the blog blogs:

Be a Better Blogger! These 5 Blogs are Full of Tools to Become a Blog Pro

Elle & Company

To be a pro blogger, you have to be a jack of all trades—writing, marketing, web design, social media. Lauren is great at simplifying what can sometimes be really complex ideas. I read her blog almost like a to-do list. Improve SEO. Clean up your Pinterest boards. Refresh old blog content. Create a brand style guide. It sounds like a lot, but Lauren makes it all easy to read and easy to do. (Plus tons of content for Squarespace bloggers.)

The Well by The B Bar

This was the first blog blog I ever followed, after following Victoria and Meg on their personal blogs. They’re both so approachable in their day-to-day writing, and that friendly tone totally comes through on The Well, as Victoria and Meg walk you through some of the less-tangible (but equally important) ways to grow, like reflecting on your vision and asking yourself questions to craft a mission. Follow the posts and participate in the link-ups and you’ll feel like you have a friend in your corner to support your online life—one who just happens to be an expert on blogging.

Bonus: Pinch of Yum

Lindsay and Bjork run a food blog, not a blog blog,  but their monthly income reports are a great snapshot into the different ways you can make money blogging. They usually also give a bit of insight into their thought processes as they look to grow Pinch of Yum.

This post is wonderful! I have so many things I would like to do with my blog but I have been slacking because I just don’t know where to start! These will make excellent reading and then hopefully I can find a few hours between cleaning up spilled milk and stopping children from eating ant traps to implement what I learn 🙂
